The best place on The Dedicated Trader to find option quotes is in the Quotes and Charts section of the Market Research tab. This portion of The Dedicated Trader offers option quotes, detailed stock quotes, interactive candlestick charts, and sentiment indicators. This is designed to make the information easier to obtain for BetterTrades students.
The option quotes tool is one of the best on the market. The command center asks the user to enter the stock symbol and responds with the option symbol, the strike price, bid and ask price, the intrinsic value, time value, theoretic value, volume, open interest, delta, gamma, theta and implied volatility.
A user can request the information for calls or puts; the data comes in the same format, regardless of whether you're seeking information on a call or a put. The user can look at the options for all months, the next nine months or the next four months, and the tool will generate the possibilities near the money or all the options that are available. The format makes it easy to keep the information straight.
The detailed stock quote feature provides plenty of data needed to make a decision on trading a security. In addition to the last price, the open price and the ask price, this tool reports the volume, the percent change for the day, the 52-week high and low, and important fundamental data like earnings, volatility, dividend, the PE ratio, the yield, the number of outstanding shares, and the dividend date. Users can see a line chart of the stock over a three-month, one-year, five-year, and 10-year period.
The sentiment indicator section is a good place to find information like the put/call ratio, the CBOE volatility index, and the commitment of traders. The put/call ratio is a contrary indicator, which might suggest the market has a bearish or bullish sentiment. The volatility index (commonly called the VIX) indicates fear in the market. The commitment index measures whether more traders are going long or short on the contracts they purchase.
The interactive candlestick charts can be set to show any stock with any set of technical indicators, for any length of time. It gives users the opportunity to view the stock in light of indicators such as RSI or MACD or Stochastics.
