The quote board feature of Extreme Charts allows the user to employ a powerful tool that can be used to watch stocks throughout the day. Although information on the quote board doesn't stream into the chart, it can be updated throughout the day to show how the stocks on your watch list are performing.

The quote board can be set up in two different formats, a box style that show a stock's price at the open of the day, the high of the day, the low of the day, the close of the day, and the gain or loss of the day. An indicator on the right side of the box (which can be set up as a candlestick, bar chart, Bollinger bar, or thermometer) gives the user instant feedback on the way the stock has performed. The color of the indicator can be changed, depending on the individual wishes of the user.

The information for the quote board can also be seen in a grid style display. The same information is available as the box, but the grid display does not include the visual indicator included on the box style indicator.

Users may also set an alert on the quote board. A trader will input the criteria to which they want to be alerted. Upon meeting that criteria, typically a price that could signal an entry or an exit point, the quote board can change the color of the quote board display, send a pop-up message, log a message to a file, send a page, send an e-mail, play a sound, or place an order. Users can activate or deactivate the tool with the click of a mouse. The alert sound can also be personalized.

The quote board can display as many stocks as a user desires, but the tool is probably best served when used with stocks already traded or for stocks under consideration for trade.
