Agreed. Jobs left in 2004 to undergo a pancreaticoduodenectomy and Apple didn't skip a beat with Cook at the helm. He's a great CEO but they weathered the storm before, they'll weather it again now.

Love my iPod, only thing is I had to get Rockbox to support FLAC open-source audio.

Once iPhone, and every other phone for that matter, improves battery life, they will be the all-purpose electronics product. Fifth generation iPod made me fail college when I got Mini Golf and Zuma.

the gap up in iPod sales during q1 2006 q1 2007 and q1 2008 jumps out at me.

Anyone see Apple got the patent for the iPhone on Jan 27th? Patent No. 7479949. It's unbelievably detailed, covers absolutely anything related to the use, production, or development, down to the bone. It's a direct shot across the bow of Palm.

Check out Aaple's 3 year chart, 2 year, 1 year, and then finally the 2 month. Now check out the dates where Jobs health has been called into question (2004, 2006, 2009). Notice anything?

I think Jobs is important to Apple, but he's not as important as, say, the CEO of a financial institution. Tech is about the new, cool product. Tech CEO's don't invent anything these days, they are the guiding hand. A major bank's CEO, like Lewis at Bank of America, has the final say on major deals like the Merrill acquisition and whether to leverage up.
